Former Sirajganj-5 MP Alhaj Abdul Majid is no more

Former MP of Sirajganj-5 (Belkuchi-Chowhali) constituency Alhaj Abdul Majid Mandal (72) is no more.  He died on the way to Iskar Hospital from his home in Uttara, Dhaka at around 11 pm on Thursday due to shortness of breath (Innalillahi Wainna Ilahi Raziun).  He was the chairman of Mandal Group and the president of Enayetpur Thana Awami League.

 His eldest son, APS Taj Uddin of incumbent MP Abdul Momin Mandal, confirmed the information, saying Abdul Majid Mandal left behind his wife, two sons and two daughters, relatives, political colleagues and well-wishers.

 Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and General Secretary Obaidul Quader, district-Awami League leaders and leaders of Enayetpur Press Club have expressed deep grief over his death.

 According to family and political sources, Alhaj Abdul Majid Mandal, eldest son of late Haji Zahurul Islam of Rupnai village under Enayetpur police station in Sirajganj district, became a shining star in the business world and established the country's famous garment industry group Mandal Group.  He has been the chairman since its inception.  In addition, the area has a good reputation for establishing a number of educational and religious institutions and as a philanthropist.

 Besides, as a political leader, Abdul Majid Mandal took a place in the hearts of the leaders and workers in his constituency as a humanitarian MP.  In the tenth parliamentary election, the boat symbol was nominated by the Awami League.  Earlier, he was the Deputy Commissioner of Sirajganj.  Majid Mandal In addition to government assistance, Haji Abdul Majid Mandal Foundation has provided financial, iftar and food items for winter blankets, floods and various disasters.  Nirlov, an industrialist and former MP, has played a significant role in the development of the area.

 Meanwhile, the news of Abdul Majid Mandal's demise has cast a shadow of mourning over all political leaders in his constituency.  His body will be buried at the family graveyard after Janazah prayers at Eid Rupah Maidan on Friday.

 Abdul Momin Mandal, the eldest son of the incumbent Member of Parliament and Managing Director of Mandal Group, wished blessings to all on behalf of the family for the forgiveness of the soul of his departed soul.
